Training & Placement Opportunities

We are welcoming applications from university students looking to complete a third-year placement at St Joseph’s Specialist Trust during 2027-28.

We currently offer two placement pathways:

• Teaching Assistant – Education: working with children and young people in our school and college. This is a 39-week, term-time placement with daytime hours.
• Residential Education Worker – Care: working with children and young people in our registered children’s homes. This is a 52-week placement on a shift rota, including alternate weekends.

Both placements provide valuable hands-on experience and the opportunity to develop skills in supporting children and young people with complex needs.

Choosing your placement

Please read the job description and person specification for each role carefully before applying, as the placements have very different working patterns and responsibilities.

Please apply for one placement type only – either Education (Teaching Assistant) or Care (Residential Education Worker).
