Behaviour for Learning

St. Joseph’s recognises that all children and young people are unique and need a tailored behaviour management plan to help reduce any anxieties. Behaviour Management support at St. Joseph’s is given by a dedicated team of Intermediate and Advanced Team Teach Tutors, in house Inclusion Support Team and the Residential Behaviour Manager, across both residential and educational settings. Members of the Inclusion Team give training to staff in positive behaviour support to ensure there is consistency and continuity in all classes.

Behaviour Management approaches are tailored to meet the needs of the children and young people. The Inclusion Team work with the Therapies Team to ensure student’s sensory and communication needs are met.

Behaviour Management approaches are all underpinned by Risk Assessments and Behaviour Support Plans that are personalised to each young person.

The Head of Inclusion and Residential Behaviour Manager work together to ensure that all staff at St. Joseph’s are trained in Team Teach and that all staff have up to date and accurate working knowledge of positive behaviour support approaches.

The Inclusion Team support with the admissions process and help with young people’s transition into St. Joseph’s. We are committed in working together to meet the needs of the students including their behavioural and emotional needs, by working together with families, in house CAMHS, in house Integrated Therapies, Inclusion Support Team during the education day, and Residential Behaviour Manager in the residential care setting, as well as external professionals. In doing this we can give a holistic and person centred approach to meet the needs of all the children and young people who attend St. Joseph’s.
