Admissions Process
No limits... Just possibilities
Places at St Joseph’s are generally commissioned by the local authority in which a young person is resident. St Joseph’s operates a comprehensive admissions process every part of which must be completed before a student can attend:
- St Joseph’s is approached by a Local Authority or by a parent seeking a placement for a young person.
- St Joseph’s issues a list of all necessary paperwork in order for the Admissions panel to start considering a young person for placement.
- The Admissions Panel reviews of all relevant documentation and information received from the authority, family and current or former educational setting.
The Admissions Panel requests any further information from the family, educational setting and any other relevant parties such as therapists, medical professionals.
If the Admissions Panel decides that on the paperwork there is a likelihood that St Joseph’s could potentially meet need, the parent or guardian is invited to visit St Joseph’s
If the parent or guardian feels that St Joseph’s may potentially be a suitable setting for the young person, a member of the Admissions Panel visits the current setting and/ or home to observe the young person.
7. If the Admissions Panel remain of the belief that need can potentially be met, St Joseph’s will offer the young person an onsite assessment. The assessment will be up to 3 visits each of 3 days during term for a day placement.
At present no residential assessments are being held as the children’s home is at capacity.
8. Once the onsite assessment is complete, the relevant staff at St Joseph’s prepare an Assessment Report and send this to the Local Authority and family.
9. Where the Assessment Report determines that need can be met, a conditional offer letter with fees will be sent to Local Authority.
10. Written agreement to the conditional offer and completed contractual documentation must be received from Local Authority to confirm any placement.
11. A start date will be confirmed subject to receipt of all contractual documentation and first term’s fees from Local Authority.
