Student Council

The Student Council represents the voice of the student body.

All students are invited to attend the student council meetings. It is important that students have a voice and are able to make a valuable contribution to the school. The council gives them a forum to express their views, give opinions and concerns. The council meet in the library every other week. Each meeting has a subject focus, ensuring that all departments and areas are represented throughout the year.

Minutes from the meetings are shared with all students, Governors and members of staff. Students are able to feedback to the council via their class feedback books. This is to ensure the voice of all students is heard, not just those who attend the meeting. Senior management give regular feedback from the previous meetings.

Although student voice is important, it is equally important that they are listened to and encouraged to take an active part in promoting the aims and objectives of the school. Council members are great ambassadors for our school, they take an active part when interviewing prospective teachers and are excellent guides when showing visitors the opportunities that St. Joseph’s has to offer. This ensures that students are at the heart of our school.
