The School day

The school is divided into four Key Stages, Key Stage 2 and 3 and Key Stage 4 and 5. Transition programmes are in place to ensure successful transition from one Key Stage to another and to future provision.

The students are grouped according to age. There up to 8 students in each class in Key Stage 2, 3 and 4. In Key Stage 5 tutor groups are sometimes larger than 8; however these are further split into small groups for many teaching sessions.

The school day starts for all students with a 20 minutes exercise programme followed by a 20 minute communication and relationship session. These incorporate a selection of circle time activities.

Brain Gym exercises are used to focus students through the school day.

For residential students there are daily morning and evening handovers to ensure care/education staff are kept fully informed of students’ needs.
