St Joseph’s remains fully open and advises staff and families that if you are travelling you should check your local weather conditions and those that affect your entire journey, and make an informed decision as to whether your journey is safe.

For students travelling via Local Authority transport; individual taxi arrangements should be checked either through the relevant website link or directly with the taxi company.

The current forecast is for less severe conditions for the next few days.  However, please take care driving and be mindful of any walkways or surfaces that may be slippery.

St Joseph’s is delighted to report that the recent Ofsted Section 8 inspection has returned a report stating that St Joseph’s School & College remains Outstanding. The full report will be published on the Ofsted Website in early December:

Short inspection of St Joseph’s Specialist School and College

Following my visit to the school on 14 November 2017 with Simon Yates, Ofsted Inspector, I write on behalf of Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education, Children’s Services and Skills to report the inspection findings. The visit was the first short inspection carried out since the school was judged to be outstanding in June 2013.
This school continues to be outstanding.

“A heightened focus on preparing pupils for adulthood.”

“Increasing and broadening pupils’ opportunities to experience the world of work.”

“Teaching is even more strongly rooted in a holistic understanding of pupils’ progress and learning needs.”

“Safeguarding arrangements are fit for purpose and records are details and of high quality.”

“Close working between education staff and therapists ensures that learning activities are sharply focused on meeting pupils’ learning and development needs.  This supports outstanding progress over time.”
